Salsa is a popular form of social dance that originated in New York City with strong influences from Latin America, particularly Puerto Rico and Cuba. The dance movement emphasises on beat 1,2,3 and 5,6,7. Salsa is considered the king of social Latin dances and is now danced throughout the world. At Dance Art Studios we bring out the elegant elements of the dance, which will allow you to dance comfortably in Latin and Salsa clubs, ballroom venues and anywhere in between.

Smooth Cha Cha

Cha Cha Cha is a dance style which originated in Cuba and became popular in the US in the 1950s. Club style is a version of Cha Cha that is frequently danced socially in Latin and Salsa clubs. This cheeky flirtatious dance is loved for its unique percussive beat….2,3,cha cha cha! Dance Art Studios offer lessons in both club style cha cha, we coined it “Smooth Cha Cha”, and also Latin Ballroom Cha Cha, one of the five dances danced in the Latin Ballroom Dancesport competitive arena.

Expectations and tips for our workshops

Our workshops provide fun and informative salsa and cha cha classes with experienced instructors who understand and can demonstrate the male and female roles. No partner is required, just your enthusiasm.

The classes will focus on the basic steps and techniques for absolute beginners in a comfortable and friendly environment. Each week you will learn individual steps and partner work.

Please come in comfortable clothes including appropriate shoes for dance floors. Shoes with a suede sole are recommended.
